PARTICIPATION WITH THE COOPERATIVE RESEARCH CENTRE (CRC) FOR CONSTRUCTION INNOVATION

The CIIA is a participant in the CRC for Construction Innovation which was established in 2001 under a Board of Directors with 18 participating organisations. It has a research program budget of $64m.

The CRC aims to create tools and technologies to deliver sustainable constructed assets to further the financial, environmental and social benefit to the community. This will be achieved through effective management of the value chain for the whole-of-life: from business planning, design, construction, operation and maintenance to the reuse, recycling and demolition.
Specific emphasis will be placed on five themes:

• virtual environments for lifecycle design and construction;
• construction project delivery strategies;
• environmental sustainability;
• integrated design and construction support systems; and
• management and adaptability of built assets.
